Growing Inclusive Markets Initiative / UNDP / 2008. Creating value for all: Strategies for doing business with the poor.
New York: United Nations Development Programme.

The Growing Inclusive Markets Initiative responds to a need for better understanding of how the private sector can contribute to human development and to the Millennium Development Goals. Led by UNDP, the initiative was conceived in 2006 after the success of Unleashing Entrepreneurship: Making Business Work for the Poor—the 2004 report of the UN Commission on the Private Sector and Development, prepared at the request of then-UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. The initiative’s broad aims are: Raising awareness by demonstrating how doing business with the poor can be good for poor people and good for business; Clarifying the ways that businesses, governments and civil society organizations can create value for all; Inspiring the private sector to action.
